James "Jed" Henderson

I was born with spina bifida, a chronic, lifelong physical disability. While I may have a visible disability, it does not define my life. My lifestyle goes above and beyond my life’s story. It is not about my limits, the obstacles I have to deal with, or the challenges I face. When I want to accomplish something, I turn “How can I do this?” into “I can do this!” There is no quit in me. My life is about my level of leadership. I lead an active lifestyle, always willing to help others and find ways of advocating, particularly for other disabled individuals. This is shown by work currently as a disability advocate and member of the Middletown Township Human Relations Commission. Both positions have given me opportunities to speak with members of Congress, local politicians, and township board members. My advocacy efforts were published by various local newspapers and media websites. Most recently, my efforts to get Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (March) recognized by the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors were successful. It was proclaimed on March 7, 2022, by the Board of Supervisors, a press release was printed and released to the public, and it was advertised on the Middletown Monument for all drivers passing by to see. I hope that someday I will be married so I can share my life's work with my wife and child (or children). I want to be able to give the same love and care my parents gave me unconditionally.

Motto: "Never give up; quit your crying; live by my motto; keep on trying."

Social Media: Jed Henderson on Facebook and @slim_jim020 follow both for motivation, fitness, recipes, family times, and a look at some of the work I do.

Attached you'll find a few things I wanted to share with you that you can share with everyone, even your social media platforms. (The article I attached doesn't have to do with my advocacy work. I thought you might like to read it). If you need anything else, please let me know.
